Algebra I
2017/2018
B. Materials
The following materials will be needed daily in class.
a. Notebook
b. Loose Leaf paper
c. Pencils
d. Red pen or pencil.
II. Grading Policy
Students will have daily assignments. Assignments are graded for completion and effort only.
2. Assessments: (60%) There will 2-3 tests and 2-3 quizzes per quarter not including semester exams. Each test will be worth 100 pts. Quizzes will be given periodically and will vary in point value.
3. Semester Grades: Each quarter of the semester is worth 40%. There will be a semester final at the end of each semester. It will be worth 20% of the student’s semester grade.
4. All students are required to take and pass the end of course exam administered in May provided by the school district. Study material will be given as it is released from the state.
D. Make-Up Procedures:
1. After any excused absence the student shall be required to initiate contact with instructor to obtain appropriate make-up work and must be completed within three school days directly following the student’s return.

2. Make-up tests/quizzes for students with an excused absence for a test or quiz must make arrangements with instructor for test to be taken within 3 school days after the test was given. Students will not be allowed to make up tests to receive a higher score.

Fundamental Math Concepts

I.Scope:

c.To increase comprehension of mathematical concepts and properties.
d.To increase the accuracy of computational skills and fluency in mental math and estimation strategies.
e.To use formulas and equations to solve mathematical and practical problems.
f.To formulate and solve mathematical and practical problems using algebraic and geometric techniques
g.To evaluate algebraic expressions, equations, and formulas using the order of operations and mathematical properties of real numbers.
h.To develop and extend problem-solving skills in order to communicate and reason mathematically.
i.To increase confidence in mathematical abilities that encourages students to continue participation in mathematics classes.

Students will be required to have access to Infinite Campus to monitor their progress weekly.
2. Notes/Projects: (50%)
Students will be graded at least once a quarter for their notes and may be assigned classroom projects to enhance their learning experience.
3. Semester Grades: Each quarter of the semester is worth 45%. There will be a semester final at the end of each semester. It will be worth 10% of the student’s semester grade.

- This is to be a classroom of RESPECT! RESPECT to you, RESPECT to me, RESPECT to each other, and RESPECT to the property of this classroom. Cooperation and appropriate behavior are expected in this classroom daily.
- School Tardy Policy will be followed.
- If you are tardy, you will be required to get a tardy slip from the hall monitors for entrance into the classroom.
- If you are more than 30 minutes tardy, you are considered absent.
- School Nuisance Items Policy will be followed.
- Electronic devices will not be allowed in the classroom and will be confiscated if out.
- School Dress-code will be followed.
- Bathroom passes
- Students will receive 3 bathroom passes each quarter. Students must ask permission from instructor to use the restroom, but will be required to turn in a bathroom pass.
- Students will not be allowed to use the restroom without a pass.

Fundamental Math Concepts
2017/2018
I.Scope:
- This one-year, supplemental course in mathematics is designed for students who need additional instruction and support to master necessary mathematical concepts. This course provides additional instruction in conjunction with the student’s course of study. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. This course fulfills one of the elective credits required for high school graduation and may be repeated. This course does not fulfill one of the mathematics credits required for graduation, nor does it meet the core requirements for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

- Students will be expected to respect classroom materials and will be required to make restitution for damages or missing items. (This includes textbooks.)
